Amalfi Coast Destination Private Tours & Transfers : Positano
“Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone. Its houses climb a hill so steep it would be a cliff except that stairs are cut in it. The small curving bay of unbelievably blue and green water lips gently on a beach of small pebbles.” John Steinbeck, 1953
Thanks to its mild climate and beauty, Positano is considered the “Gem of the Divine Coast”. Set into the mountain, surrounded by rich vegetation looks like a huge nativity scene. It’s a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone. The town develops vertically, the homes, one on top of the other, are charaterised by arched porticos that give onto the sea, giving it the look to a multifaceted precious stone. Walking along the narrow streets, where there is a huge presence of boutiques, you can reach the Spiaggia Grande, a wild pebble beach used by fishing boats from where it is possible to have an amazing view of the coast line and of the town. Not far from the beach is the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, whose colored cupola, covered with yellow, blue and green majolica tiles is visible from all over the town of Positano. A few miles away from the Coast there is a little archipelago called “Li Galli” or of the “Sirenuse” considered the dwelling of the Sirens.Above Positano, two villages overlooking the sea, such as Montepertuso and Nocelle. It is from here that the famous trail of the Gods “Sentiero Degli Dei” begins, offering a wonderful view over the entire Coast line.
